... Wilson Weekend has arrived! Palmetto Bluff will step back in time this weekend to 1918, when U.S. troops were helping turn the tide in World War I, the indomitable American spirit was poised to burst forth in the Roaring Twenties, and a weekend with the Wilson Family was the epitome of Southern elegance and style. Look for photos and reports at PB Online and in the Spring issue of Cornerstones. Please note that all dining venues will be closed for Wilson Weekend events from Friday at 2:00 p.m. to noon on Sunday.

... Are you ready for some football?! Property owners are invited to a Palmetto Bluff Club members-only Super Bowl Social on Sunday, February 4 at the May River Grill. The event is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will feature an array of outstanding food, including the Big Game staples of chili, chicken wings, and chips and salsa. ... A Boatyard Customer Preview is scheduled for Saturday, February 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Wilson Landing. Boat owners are invited to tour the new facility, and Marine staff will be on hand to answer questions and assist with boat storage and Boat Club rental agreements. ... Kayakers, canoeists and other inland watercraft users now have more waters to navigate. The inland Water Trail System was expanded on Wednesday, January 31 with the removal of the earthen dam separating the Wilson and South Wilson lakes, creating one continuous waterway spanning more than a mile in length.

... Due to Wilson Weekend activities, this month’s First Friday lecture will be held a week later, on Friday, February 9. Titled “Love is in the Air,” this Valentine’s-themed program will take a look at the amorous ways of Lowcountry wildlife. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. ... Second Saturday, a new monthly birding survey led by the Conservancy's Environmental Team, is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Carriage House. ... Give your dog the V.I.P. (Very Important Pooch) treatment at Dog Gone Crazy Weekend, February 16-18. ... The Recreation Department has a fleet of new bicycles. The lightweight, aluminum-frame models are available in men’s and women’s styles, and adult and junior sizes. A tandem model and pull-behind child carts are available as well. Stop by the Carriage House to check one out – the bicycles are available at no charge as a Palmetto Bluff Club member benefit.

... Palmetto Bluff’s first interest group has formed! The Women of Palmetto Bluff is a group of property owners who have come together to share common interests and serve their community. The group’s first service project, a “Women Build” Habitat for Humanity house, is already in the planning stages. The Women of Palmetto Bluff will hold a lunch meeting at the home of Jan Spears on Friday, February 16 to discuss the project and gain input in further developing the group. Mrs. Spears’ home is located at 73 Myrtle View Street in The Point. ... The Back to Nature Weekend, originally scheduled for February 23-24, has been moved to March 2-3. Stay tuned to PB Online for details on this event, which will include coyote calling, birding, nature journaling, and a kayak tour during a full moon eclipse.

… Due to maintenance on the Grace from February 4 through March 13, the previously scheduled property owner cruise on February 23 has been cancelled. The next property owner cruise will be held on Friday, March 16.
