... After a two-month-long kitchen renovation, Buffalo’s is scheduled to re-open on Friday, March 9 with new lunch and dinner menus. The restaurant’s new hours of operation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

... Back to Nature Weekend will be held on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3. The Conservancy’s Environmental Team is offering a host of activities designed to familiarize you with Palmetto Bluff’s varied landscape and wildlife. ... The Sassicaia Winery Dinner, the latest in the Inn’s 2007 Wine Dinner Series, will be held on Tuesday, March 6 and will feature renowned winemaker Sebastiano Rosa as the guest. The dinner begins at 8:00 p.m. in the River House Wine Cellar and costs $150 per person. The Wine Dinner Series enables property owners and Inn guests to enjoy unique food-and-wine pairings in the presence of some of the wine industry’s most influential players. ... Palmetto Bluff Outfitters will conduct Kakaying 101 on Friday, March 16 beginning at 9:00 a.m.

... Palmetto Bluff’s first Tennis Camp will be held on March 16-17 at the Wilson Lawn & Racquet Club. ... Renowned artist Patrick Dougherty will spend three weeks in March building a sculpture on the Wilson Village Green. Dougherty will begin his work on Monday, March 5, residing on site while he uses a collection of sticks and other natural materials to create the installation, which will remain in place until November. A wine and cheese reception will be held on the Village Green on Friday, March 23 to celebrate the scuplture’s official “unveiling.” The reception, which begins at 6:00 p.m., will allow attendees to mingle with the artist and project partners from the Island School Council for the Arts. An Astronomy Program will be held at the Chapel on Friday, March 23 beginning at 8:00 p.m. Local astronomy enthusiast Jerry Dacus will discuss the basics, such as how to read a star chart, then lead us outdoors to view constellations through a spotting scope. ... Caution: Please be careful when passing through the Main Gate in the outside "express" lane. This lane is intended for property owners, but traffic must yield to vehicles entering Palmetto Bluff via the inside lane.

… Nearly 100 attendees attended the Wilson Landing preview event on February 10. The new marine complex includes storage space for 88 boats, and the Boat Club program offers access to a variety of watercraft at a fraction of the cost of ownership. Grace is still out for annual maintenance and repairs, including replacement of its aft deck, a project that will prevent the previously scheduled property owner cruise on March 16. Thank you for your patience while we work to get Grace back on the water – she is a beautiful boat, but at 94 years old, she needs lots of TLC!

… A friendly reminder: Payment of 2007 dues and assessments are considered delinquent if they were not paid in full by January 15 (except for Wilson Center and West Wilson Trust assessments, which are billed on a quarterly basis, with the next payment due on April 1). If assessments were unpaid on February 15, a 12% interest charge began accruing. If payment is 90 days late, a letter will be issued initiating a lien process against the property.

… April preview: Next month features a busy calendar of events, including a new outing designed for fishing and golf enthusiasts. Surf and Turf Weekend on April 20-21 is a tournament consisting of two rounds of golf at the May River Golf Club and an in-shore saltwater fishing tournament. Scores will be calculated by subtracting each individual’s total weight of fish caught from his or her two-day golf score.
