… Amphibians and Wetland Ecology will be the topic of the Conservancy’s First Friday program on Friday, March 7. Wildlife biologist Tom Luhring will discuss identification and fun facts on our native amphibians (frogs and salamanders) at the Chapel beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the presentation, we will ride to a wetland to hear frogs calling and learn how to identify different species. … The Wilson Lawn & Racquet Club will host an On-The-Lawn Court Demonstration on March 13 as part of the Coastal Croquet Clubs’ third annual Rules Clinic. The complimentary clinic is presented in two phases. The first phase is a two-hour classroom session lead by USCA Certified referees. Classes will be held on March 10-12 at the Dataw Croquet Club, Sun City Croquet Club and Wexford, Port Royal and Cypress Croquet Clubs on Hilton Head Island. The second phase is the Court Demonstration, which begins at 9:00 a.m. and will be followed by the opportunity for spectators to play a game. Matches will be arranged for all handicap levels. … Winemaker Merry Edwards will host a Wine Dinner at Moreland Landing on Thursday, March 13. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with a traditional Oyster Roast accompanied by Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc, followed by a paired dinner with a Lowcountry flair. One of the first female winemakers in the industry, Edwards has worked in the business since 1974 and has been producing Pinot Noirs in California’s Russian River Valley since 1997.
