… Help shape the Canoe Club experience! In preparation for the Canoe Club’s opening this spring, the Palmetto Bluff Club is seeking property owner input on programming and activities. Amphibians and Wetland Ecology will be the topic of the Conservancy’s First Friday program on Friday, March 7. Wildlife biologist Tom Luhring will discuss identification and fun facts on our native amphibians (frogs and salamanders) at the Chapel beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the presentation, we will ride to a wetland to hear frogs calling and learn how to identify different species. … The Wilson Lawn & Racquet Club will host an On-The-Lawn Court Demonstration on March 13 as part of the Coastal Croquet Clubs’ third annual Rules Clinic. The complimentary clinic is presented in two phases. The first phase is a two-hour classroom session lead by USCA Certified referees. Classes will be held on March 10-12 at the Dataw Croquet Club, Sun City Croquet Club and Wexford, Port Royal and Cypress Croquet Clubs on Hilton Head Island. The second phase is the Court Demonstration, which begins at 9:00 a.m. and will be followed by the opportunity for spectators to play a game. Matches will be arranged for all handicap levels. … Winemaker Merry Edwards will host a Wine Dinner at Moreland Landing on Thursday, March 13. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with a traditional Oyster Roast accompanied by Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc, followed by a paired dinner with a Lowcountry flair. One of the first female winemakers in the industry, Edwards has worked in the business since 1974 and has been producing Pinot Noirs in California’s Russian River Valley since 1997. … And more wine news: A Wine Tasting will be held at RT’s Market on Friday, March 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This month’s featured wines will be Luna Vineyards Pinot Grigio and Indian Wells Merlot. May River Golf Club members are invited to a March 15 presentation on a Canadian Rockies golf trip planned for June 26 to July 1. The presentation will be held at the May River Grill from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and includes complimentary coffee and pastries. The trip itinerary includes rounds at Banff Springs, Kananaskis (Mt. Kidd and Mt. Lorette courses), Silvertip and Stewart Creek. The cost for this special members-only opportunity is $2,400 per person double occupancy, $3,300 pp single occupancy, which includes five nights lodging at the 5-Star Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff National Park, five rounds of golf, cart and driving range use, daily breakfast, minivan rental (shared by four people), meet/greet/welcome gift at Calgary International Airport, valet parking, national park pass, trip cancellation insurance, and all taxes and gratuities. …Palmetto Bluff will participate in a May River Clean-up sponsored by Friends of the Rivers on Saturday, March 22. Volunteers from the Moss Creek Boating Association will join us to help clean up areas outside of Wilson Village. Gloves and bags will be provided. … The Women of Palmetto Bluff are sponsoring a “Women Build” house for Habitat for Humanity. The group is supporting the project both fiscally and physically – fiscally by pledging $50,000 and physically by helping build the home. Tuesdays and Wednesdays have been designated as workdays for the group, but members may also volunteer on other days. Group members are reminded that monetary donations are due by March 22. … The Conservancy is conducting a Travel Survey to gauge property owner interest in ecotours with AAA Vacations and International Expeditions, a world leader in ecotourism and nature travel. Potential destinations include the Amazon River, Belize and Tikal, the Galapagos Islands, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.
