… Dr. Whit Gibbons of the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory will be the guest at this month’s First Friday lecture on April 6. Dr. Gibbons will discuss and demonstrate “Snakes of the Southeast.” He will also be available to sign copies of his new book by that same title, which is available for purchase at Buffalo’s. … A Paint Party and Lowcountry Boil will be held at Moreland Landing on Saturday, April 7 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Linda Rorer, Director of the Gallery at Palmetto Bluff, will lead painting instruction for all ages and skill levels, and non-painters are invited as well. Music will be provided by Lowcountry folk artist Jim Davidson. … An Easter Service will be held at the Chapel on Sunday, April 8 beginning at 7:00 a.m. Pastor Mark Jones from Bluffton’s Live Oak Christian Church will lead the service.

… An Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the Wilson Village Green at 1:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday. … Travel in style to the PGA Tour’s Verizon Heritage tournament! Day trips aboard Marion are available to May River Golf Club members from Wednesday, April 11 through Sunday, April 15. The $40 package includes a clubhouse badge, box lunch with soft drinks, and round-trip transportation to Harbour Town. Surf and Turf Weekend on April 20-22 is a tournament consisting of two rounds of golf at the May River Golf Club and an in-shore saltwater fishing tournament. The weekend also includes an optional complimentary tour of Bluffton's Waddell Mariculture Center, where research is conducted on the Lowcountry’s game fish. The trip to Waddell will begin in front of the River House at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, April 20. … Landscape and wildlife artist Linda St. Clair will be painting live at the Gallery, followed by a Silent Auction, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28. Bidders may participate both days, and may update their bids by calling the Gallery at 843.706.5999. The winning bidders will be awarded their paintings at the Gallery's weekly "Saturday Soiree" on April 28 at 5:30 p.m.

… Palmetto Bluff’s inaugural Lawn Games Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 28. Open to all property owners, regardless of skill level or experience, the tournament will feature competitions in tennis (9:00 a.m.), bocce (11:00 a.m.), badminton (1:00 p.m.) and croquet (2:00 p.m.). … Property owners are invited to participate in “Porching,” a daily social on the front porch of the River House. This drop-in event is held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day and includes complimentary iced tea, lemonade and snacks.

… Storage for boats up to 36 feet in length is available at Wilson Landing. Boating enthusiasts may also join the Boat Club, which allows unlimited use of a variety of boats for a $4,000 annual fee. Unauthorized clearing of lots in Palmetto Bluff is prohibited, including thinning and pruning of trees and removal of other understory vegetation. Any work of this nature must be approved by the Design Review Board and is to be done in accordance with the River Protection Overlay District Guidelines and standard arboricultural practices. Additionally, the River Protection Overlay District Guidelines prohibit clearing equipment to be used – view corridors are to be the result of hand clearing only.

… The East Gate to May River Forest (just past the Golf Club) is closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The West Gate will remain open during daylight hours. As always, a transponder will open both gates.

… Please remember that Moreland Landing is an events and programming venue only, and anyone visiting the site must be accompanied by a staff member. Heavy construction activity and traffic in Phase II make the route to Moreland too dangerous for unescorted access.
