… Memorial Day Weekend will kick off with the Concert on the Green on Friday, May 25, featuring the Hilton Head Orchestra Jazz Connection. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. on the Wilson Village Green. Concertgoers are invited to bring a picnic or purchase a “Concert Box Lunch,” which will include cheese, crackers, marinated grilled chicken breast, fruit and choice of beverage.

… Earl McMillen, owner of McMillen Yachts, Inc., will have two of his classic wooden yachts – Glory and Enticer – on display at Palmetto Bluff May 3-6. … Captain Amber Hester will speak on “Boating the May River” at this month’s First Friday Lecture on May 4. The program, which begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel, will include simple safety measures, a “to-do” checklist before getting on the water, and lots of local knowledge Captain Amber has accumulated while growing up on the May. … Palmetto Bluff Outfitters will operate boat shuttles to the Bluffton Village Festival on Saturday, May 12. This annual celebration in historic downtown Bluffton includes music, arts and crafts, and a variety of Lowcountry cuisine. Shuttles depart from the Inn Dock at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and noon, with returns from Bluffton at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and later by request. … A Habitat Review Workshop will be conducted on May 17-18. This two-day workshop is offered by the Conservancy to introduce property owners to the Lowcountry environment. Lowcountry Woodworking will be the featured topic for this month’s Arts Affair on Saturday, May 19 from 10:00 a.m. to noon next to the Chapel. Lowcountry artists Jim Renauer and Natalie Myrick will demonstrate widely different techniques on woodworking, “artistic burning” and carving, and attendees will have the opportunity to try the techniques themselves. … A Property Owner Orientation will be held on Friday, May 25 at the River House. Owners will hear from staff members of the Property Owners Association, Palmetto Bluff Club, May River Golf Club, Inn and Conservancy. A continental breakfast will be served from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the program, lunch and an optional Open House at the Design Review Center. … June 30 is the deadline for the Property Owner Photography Contest. Submissions are being accepted in the categories of People and Pets, Places, Nature, and Wildlife. … Beginning May 7, the Gallery at Palmetto Bluff will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To date, the Gallery has been open only on Thursday through Sunday.
