Director of Golf
Spring has arrived here in the Lowcountry, which means now is the ideal time for a round on the May River Golf Course. If you did not play in our Spring Member-Guest Tournament (congratulations to Alanna Berger on her victory with partner Carol Pitzer!), you can start practicing for the Fall Member-Guest Tournament on October 9-11, followed by the Club Championship on November 8-9.
In other May River Golf Club news:
- The Club is implementing some new agronomic practices to improve the health and putting performance of the greens. This includes addressing shade issues on the practice putting green and the greens on holes 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 11,15, 16 and 17; beginning the aerification process in the first week of June (the course will be closed June 2-6, reopening at noon on the 6th); and increasing the coarseness of the sand material used for backfilling. The Golf Maintenance staff will also be aggressively managing the grain in the greens over the summer months. If you have any questions or comments about golf maintenance, please contact Chris Johnson at 843.706.6798.
- The May River Golf Shop was recognized as one of 25 resort shops on Golf World magazine’s list of the “100 Best Golf Shops in America.” The honor appeared in the magazine’s January issue.
- Golf members now receive a special benefit in their award-winning pro shop – 25% off all purchases of golf balls, gloves and clubs.
Next time you are at the Bluff, please stop in the Golf Shop and say hello
